MALAPPURAM: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Farook College, Feroke, won the hearts of the local community by constructing two houses as part of its ‘Home for the Poor’ scheme. Industries Minister Elamaram Karim handed over the keys to the two beneficiaries at a function held at the college auditorium on Sunday. Kanhirathingal Rajan belonging to Kottapalam in Feroke panchayat and Choorakkattil Nafeesa belonging to Chulliparamba in Ramanattukara panchayat were the beneficiaries of the NSS scheme. The NSS unit also conducted a thorough socio-economic survey in Ramanattukara panchayat that borders between Malappuram and Kozhikode districts. Industrialist P.K. Ahamed released the survey report on the occasion. A. Kuttialikutty, Farook College Principal, presided over the function. A.B. Moideenkutty, Calicut University NSS programme coordinator, and M.K. Geetha, Ramanattukara grama panchayat president, addressed. T. Mohammedali, Farook College NSS programme officer, welcomed the gathering. Jareer M., Farook College NSS unit secretary, proposed a vote of thanks.
