PU exams to be held in 24 centres

Chitradurga: The Pre-University Education Department has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the PU final year examinations to be held between March 17 and 29.

In a press release, the department said that 24 exam centres had been set up to accommodate 18,288 students of the district. Of the 24 centres, seven have been set up in Chitradurga, four in Challakare, one in Molakalmur, four in Hiriyur, three in Holalkere and five in Hosadurga taluk.

Eight centres have been identified as sensitive and 11 as hyper-sensitive. Five vigilant squads have also been formed to oversee the exams and to prevent malpractices. A super-squad team led by Deputy Commissioner Amlan Aditya Biswas, the tahsildar and block education officials will pay surprise visits to the centres. To prevent copying inside the examination halls, videographing of the examinations would be held in all centres.

Except the chief examiner, no other staff member or student will be allowed to use mobile phones inside the hall, the released added.

In another release, the Deputy Commissioner has imposed prohibitory orders within 200 metres of the examination halls. All photocopying centres and internet cafes in their vicinity have been asked to remain closed between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. during the examinations.
