K. Shailaja, director-in-charge, Health Services, visited the affected areas, including Kumbalanghi, where diarrhoeal cases have also been reported. Typhoid has been reported from Mattancherry. Many workers from the Bamboo Corporation have been found to be affected by jaundice. Dr. Shailaja has asked field workers to collect water samples from drinking water resources such as wells and from water supply pipelines to analyse the level of water contamination.
