BANGALORE: The Kannada Unions of Industrial and Business Establishments Federation has said that it will fight for a pre-paid taxi counter of the Karnataka Tourism Development Corporation at the Devanahalli airport. Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, the former MLA and president of the Federation K. Prabhakara Reddy and president of HAL Pre-Paid Taxi Drivers Welfare Association H. Venkatesh Reddy said that they, along with freedom fighter H.S. Doreswamy, met Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel recently and urged him to protect the taxi drivers’ jobs, which they are set to lose once the commercial operations from the international airport at Devanahalli commence. The delegation also met the Chief Executive Officer of BIAL Albert Brunner and requested him to ensure justice to their cause. Mr. Venkatesh Reddy said that though the problems facing the taxi drivers has been brought to the notice of the State Government, it has not taken any action in this regard.
