HYDERABAD: South African Justin Kemp came up with a brilliant knock (66 n.o., 42 balls, 6x4, 4x6) and was involved in a 103-run stand for the fourth wicket with Nicky Boje to help Hyderabad Heroes record a seven-wicket win over Chennai Superstars in the Edelweiss 20s Challenge cricket championship at the floodlit Lal Bahadur Stadium here on Saturday. Kemp, known for his big-hitting ability, made merry with some extraordinary strokes. And, it came just when the team needed at 53 for three with S. Anirudh Singh (1) and Jimmy Maher (0) and Ambati Rayudu (16) back in the pavilion in the eighth over. Earlier, a late onslaught by Hemang Badani propelled Chennai Superstars to a challenging 152 for seven in the stipulated 20 overs. Put in to bat, Chennai Superstars was off to good start scoring 50 in the 6.4 overs thanks to some power hitting by Australian Ian Harvey(49, 37 balls, 6x4, 1x6). Thanks to Badani’s brilliant cameo (33 n.o., 18 balls, 2x4, 3x6), Chennai Superstars posted a good total. Kemp was declared experts’ Man of the Match and Boje TV viewers’ Player of the Match. The scores: Chennai Superstars 152 for seven in 20 overs (Ian Harvey 49, Hemang Badani 33 n.o., Razzaq two for 28, Justin Kemp two for 32) lost to Hyderabad Heroes 156 for three in 19.1 overs (Nicky Boje 61 n.o., Justin Kemp 66 n.o.). — Principal Correspondent
