Anganwadi training put on hold in 3 constituencies

Abeyance till probe into irregularities in recruitment is over
Ramayampet, Siddipet, Dommata in eye of storm

SANGAREDDY: Minister for School Education Damodar Rajnarsimha on Sunday asked the Collector to keep the training of selected Anganwadi workers from Siddipet, Ramayampet and Dommata constituencies in abeyance till the completion of the ongoing inquiry into the alleged discrepancies in recruitment.

Responding to a demand by the Dubbaka ZPTC and Telugu Desam floor leader in Zilla Parishad, Bakki Venkataiah at the District Planning Committee (DPC) meeting here the Minister said that the government including the Chief Minister was aware of the allegations and an inquiry was ordered into the matter. Collector Piyush Kumar assured the members that training for the selected candidates would be put on hold and if the allegations of corruption were proved widows , orphans and physically challenged women would be given preference in filling those gaps.

Widows seek justice

Jayashri alias Jana Bai, wife of Chityala Rajreddy of Rudraram of Dubbaka mandal told the DPC meeting which was also attended by Minister for Cooperation Mohammad Fariduddin that her husband was killed by Naxals in 1993. Since then she has been trying for appointment as Anganwadi worker. She along with another Baswarani also of same mandal told the DPC that authorities took bribes for appointing Anganwadi workers in Dommata constituency which was till recently represented by S.Ramalinga Reddy of Telangana Rashtra Samiti.

Earlier the DPC of the district has unanimously passed a resolution seeking Rs. 24.52 crore for 792 the development works in the district under the Backward Regions Growth Fund (BRGF) as per revised estimates. The members from Telugu Desam who protested uneven representation of opposition in the formation of sub committees demanded election. Similarly BJP councilor Chandrasekhar demanded loans from banks for the completion of Rajiv Grihakalpa scheme. Damodar Rajnarsimha assured him that the issue would be taken up with the lead bank during the District-level bankers meet on 18 of this month.
