NEW DELHI: A day-long continuing medical education seminar on “Newer Frontiers in Paediatrics” was organised by Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals and Apollo Hospitals Education and Research Foundation here on Sunday. ExpertsThe seminar dealt with international updates in paediatrics with special focus on new approaches in diagnoses and management. The summit was attended by national and international experts and was specially designed for medical professionals to enhance their knowledge and practices on Paediatric issues. Some of the advanced techniques discussed included MRI, clinical application of molecular biology, various upcoming preventive vaccines like HPV for prevention of cervical cancer and rotavirus vaccine for infantile diarrhoea. Also discussed was the new method of treating childhood illnesses called “immunomodulation”. Speaking on the occasion, Apollo Hospitals group medical director Anupam Sibal said: “It is our constant endeavour to keep abreast with international updates and utilise them to enhance the knowledge and practice of our experts. The advances in techniques in the field of paediatrics will lead to correct diagnoses, that in turn would result in prevention and right therapeutics at the right time.” Specialised centreAccording to Dr. Sibal, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital has a specialised centre for advanced paediatrics that comprises a team of specialists covering all major fields.
