PROVIDING MOBILITY: A.P. Shah, Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, distributing a wheelchair to a differently abled person at a function held in Chennai on Sunday. CHENNAI: Chief Justice of the Madras High Court A.P. Shah inaugurated the distribution of artificial limbs, callipers, wheelchairs and tricycles to differently abled persons at a function organised by the Adinath Jain Trust here on Sunday. Delivering the convocation address after distributing certificates to those who had completed B.A. and M.A courses in Jainology, he said though the Jains accounted for only four million of the country’s population, they made a significant contribution to the growth of Indian culture, philosophy, religion, art, architecture, languages and literature, besides commerce and industry, civil services and other professions. Hailing the trust for its services for the social cause, he said it would go a long way in rehabilitating the differently abled persons in a meaningful and substantial manner. The Jains occupying top positions in various fields distributed callipers, polio shoes, iron boxes, wheelchair, tricycles, spectacles, tailoring certificates and walkers. Trust secretary Mohan Jain said the trust had so far helped over 6.10 lakh people.
