CUDDALORE: The All India Agricultural Workers’ Union (AIAWU) has appealed to Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi to order an immediate assessment of crop losses suffered by farmers of Cuddalore district in the recent rain. In a representation to the Chief Minister, AIAWU district secretary T. Ravindran said that the unprecedented rain had damaged crops on about 1.25 lakh acres, including black gram on 75,000 acres, green gram on 25,000 acre, cashew on 10,000 acres and watermelon on over 2,000 acres.
