Government blamed for “dismal” power situation

Staff Reporter

Krishnagiri: Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) general secretary Vaiko has blamed the government for the “dismal” power situation in the State.

Talking to reporters here on Sunday, Mr. Vaiko alleged that due to poor maintenance of power generation units and irregularities in the administration of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, the State was facing acute power shortage. This had curtailed agricultural and industrial productivity affecting lakhs of farmers.

During the previous AIADMK regime, the State generated about 10,300 MW of power but under the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) rule it had plummeted to 7,500 MW.
