Bangalore: Radha Viswanathan, daughter and disciple of late M.S. Subbulakshmi, was honoured with the title of “Sangeetha Ratna” by the Lalithakala Academy Foundation at a function at Sri Vivekananda Yoga University at Jigani, near here, on Saturday. Former judge of the Supreme Court Justice Venkatachala, who released a souvenir on the “Life of MS through images,” said that the late Subbulakshmi, in spite of many honours bestowed on her, was a person of great humility. Ms. Radha, who dedicated the award to her parents, said that she was most fortunate to have her mother sing a Meera Bhajan “Ganshyama Ayori…” to which she danced in front of Mahatma Gandhiji at Birla House in New Delhi in 1947.
