Officer killed in encounter

Srinagar: A Lieutenant Colonel and a jawan were killed and three other Army personnel injured in a gun battle with two militants in Dangiwacha village of Baramulla district on Sunday. A self-styled Lashker-e-Taiba chief operation commander, Hafiz Nasir, was also killed. The encounter broke out when the militants opened fire on the security forces during a search operation, official sources said. — PTI
