New Delhi
The 26-year-old loves Indian food and enjoys the song and dance sequences in Hindi films Has done extensive photo shoots for models like Gemma Ward, Julia Steger, Stephanie Seymour NEW DELHI: His latest claim to fame is giving Hollywood actor-model Paris Hilton a hair-do. German hair stylist Tobias Trondle was here in the Capital this past week to give a live demonstration of hair-cutting. Describing hair styling as an “expression of art”, Tobias says he worked as a stylist and educator at New York’s Bumble and Bumble salon for three years. “In New York I specialised in cutting hair with a razor. So I demonstrated this technique to budding Indian hair stylists at Wella Professionals in New Delhi. I shared with them the new colouring technique. Indian hair stylists are good at grasping new techniques. They are always hungry for knowledge and are grateful for what you show them.” Tobias says in Las Vegas he created two divergent styles of hair-cutting: “One was women’s hairstyle with cutting, blow drive and wild hair style and the other was hair by night. Both of these styles were taught by me.” Now on his second visit to the Capital, the 26-year-old hair stylist says he enjoys digging into traditional Indian food. “It is so aromatic and the spices make it really sumptuous. Chicken tikka masala and butter chicken are some of my favourites. I also enjoy watching Hindi films. In fact, Hindi films are quite a rage in Germany. “There is a Bollywood night every week. Shah Rukh Khan is a much sought after actor there. I remember the scene in ‘Om Shanti Om’ in which the superstar is shown fighting the fire in the mansion where Deepika Padukone is trapped. I cannot recall names of other Hindi films and see only the translated ones. More than the story, I immensely enjoy the song and dance sequences,” says Tobias. Over the years, this German hair stylist has come out with flying colours in various competitions. He became World Champion in Las Vegas, Vice European Champion and German Champion to name a few. “I followed in the footsteps of my father, a known hair stylist in Germany. In the beginning, I was forced into hair-cutting, but now it has become a passion. At the age of 18 I got a Master’s degree in hair dressing. I went on to educate myself at the institutes of Vidal Sassoon, Jacques Dessange and Mods Hair. “From then on I left my mark on the canvas of fashion industry,” says Tobias, who has done extensive photo shoots of international models like Gemma Ward, Julia Steger and Stephanie Seymour.
