Court acquits three alleged dacoits

New Delhi: In an embarrassment to the city police, a court here has brushed aside as “highly improbable” a contention that their raiding team went to arrest a group of notorious criminals unarmed, and acquitted three men nabbed on a tip-off while allegedly preparing for a dacoity.

“If a raid was to be conducted to apprehend notorious criminals who were planning to commit dacoity, it would be quite unbelievable that none of the raiding party members would be carrying any weapon for their safety,” Additional Sessions Judge Sanjay Sharma said.
