PUDUCHERRY: Chief Minister N. Rangasamy on Monday handed over the work order and a cheque for the purchase of gold to make a kavacham for the presiding deity of the Manakula Vijayagar temple in the town. According to temple sources, the gold kavacham would be made for Manakula Vinayagar at a total cost of Rs. 1.25 crore, using about 10 kg gold. The funds were contributed by the devotees. The job had been entrusted to a Chennai-based jeweller, with the consent of the Puducherry government, the sources said. — Special Correspondent
