ALAPPUZHA: Kerala Minister for Agriculture Mullakara Ratnakaran said here on Monday that the State government would take a decision on the steps required to mitigate the sufferings of farmers in Kuttanad who suffered losses due to unexpected summer rain this season. He visited a few submerged paddy fields and held a meeting with farmers and labour unions at the Rice Research Centre, Mankombu. He said the State government would take a decision on follow-up steps, including compensation to farmers. The Union government, Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar would be apprised of the situation and necessary assistance would be sought.
