Woman & romance

The article “Romance and the Indian woman” (Open Page, March 16) was interesting. It is for both husband and wife to ensure that an emotional relationship remains meaningful, and is not taken for granted. In India, we have great expectations from the institution of marriage and greater expectations from the woman, thanks to her clearly defined role. Today’s woman is seeking to change the stereotype in which she is cast. Men, particularly the liberal ones bred in cities, are trying to understand the new woman and her demands better. Things take time to change but for those who want fulfilling relationships, this is the direction we should move in.
