No breakthrough in attack on Bheema Sankar

Staff Reporter

Kakinada: Investigation into yesterday’s attack on Kakinada Mayor Saroja’s husband Bheema Sankar is continuing under the supervision of DSP S. Surya Rao while some businessmen with whom Sankar is said to have rivalry, are suspected to have conspired against him. No arrests have yet been made.

Meanwhile, speculation is rife that political rivalry with the detractors of his wife could be the reason for the attack. However, the police are unable to arrive at any conclusion in the absence of a prima facie evidence to that effect.

Sankar was reportedly attacked by two unidentified persons at ADB road here last night. He was found in an unconscious State with a stab injury on his neck and was admitted to a private hospital in the town by the police.

Bheema Sankar was recently in the news when he was admitted in a hospital after an alleged attempt to commit suicide but the Mayor had quickly cleared the air of suspicion stating that it was ill-health that necessitated his hospitalisation.
