Takes charge as ombudsman

Thiruvananthapuram: M.R. Hariharan Nair, former judge of the Kerala High Court, has taken over as the new ombudsman for local self-government institutions. He was sworn in by Governor R.L. Bhatia at a function in the Raj Bhavan on Monday. The function was attended by Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan and his Cabinet colleagues and top officials. — Special Correspondent
