Tax on ATF cut on Centre’s advice: Isaac

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac said in the Assembly on Monday that he proposed reduction of tax on aviation turbine fuel (ATF) to 4 per cent in the budget on a suggestion from the Centre.

The Minister was replying to the discussion on the vote on account during which the Opposition alleged corruption behind some of his taxation proposals. Dr. Isaac said that Union Minister for Civil Aviation Praful Patel had called for moderation of tax rates on the ATF in the State as existing 40 per cent tax on the fuel increased the inputs of the aviation industry.

After the Minister’s reply, the House approved the motion regarding demands for grants on account.
