Another laurel: The inaugural screening of telefilm ‘Vithachathu Koyyum

MALAPPURAM: The students of A.U.P. School, Malappuram, climbed yet another mount of fame when they produced a 45-minute telefilm.

Poet P.K. Gopi was the chief guest at the inaugural screening of the film titled Vithachathu Koyyum held at the school auditorium here on Monday.

Produced, directed and acted by the students of the school, the film became an instant hit among the people of Malappuram on the first day itself.

Their zest for experiments and innovative learning brought them laurels .

The telefilm, which portrays the importance of man’s association with the tilled land through the story of Chathunni, has been described as a poser to society by the young generation.

Showing the decadence of a farmer’s life brought about by the fast-changing society, the film exhorts the viewer not to destroy nature.

The children had undergone a brief training in scriptwriting and acting before they ventured into filmmaking.

The film was completed in less than six weeks after actor Risa Bava launched the shoot at Chitranjali Studio, Thiruvananthapuram.

Although the children got technical support from their teachers, the children did not share the credit for make-up, costumes, lyrics and music. Along with Arjun V., Nikhila, Abhinav, Arunjith, Sarat Murali, Mashhoor Ashique and Vishnu, their teacher Mini too acted a role in the film.

Poet Manamboor Rajanbabu gave away mementoes to those who gave technical support to the film at the function.

P.M. Sujata, school headmistress, and T.M. Harris, president of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), were among those who spoke.

The film was produced under the banner of the PTA.
