Demand creation of a directorate for residential schools Threaten to boycott special coaching if demand is not met
HYDERABAD: About 100 representatives of the Federation of Government Residential Teachers and Employees’ Organisations were taken into preventive custody here on Monday after they took out a ‘Chalo Assembly’ rally to press for several demands which include creation of a directorate for residential schools.
D. N. Murthy, secretary-general, in a press release said the Government’s assurance of creating the directorate in 2004 was yet to be implemented. Seeking Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s intervention, he said if the demand was not conceded, the members would boycott special coaching programmes for students and undertake indefinite hunger-strike. AP State Teachers’ Union and AP Teachers’ Federation condemned the arrest.
