NEW DELHI: Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) made it to both the men’s and women’s final in the 29th Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) badminton tournament at the Siri Fort Sports Complex here on Monday. In the men’s final, IOC will be challenged by the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). Both IOC and ONGC registered 3-0 victories over Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) respectively. In the women’s section, IOC outplayed Engineers India Limited (EIL) to set up a title clash with BPCL, spearheaded by the National champion Saina Nehwal. The results (semifinals) : Men: ONGC beat GAIL 3-0 (B. Chetan Anand bt Ravinder Singh 21-10, 21-11; Thomas Kurien bt R. Parihar 21-3, 21-11; Rupesh Kumar and V. Diju bt Ravinder Singh and B. K. Gupta 21-8, 21-10). IOC beat BPCL 3-0 (Ajay Jayaram bt Ajit Wijetilak 21-12, 21-19; P. Kashyap bt Arvind Bhat 21-15, 11-21, 21-19; P. Gopichand and J. B. Vidyadhar bt S. Chopra and R. P. Aditya 21-16, 4-4 (conceded)). Women: BPCL beat GAIL 2-0 (Saina Nehwal bt Maya Dasrath 21-0, 21-2; Jwala Gutta and Shruti Kurien bt Neelima and Maya Dasrath 21-3, 21-4). IOC beat EIL 2-0 (B. R. Meenakshi bt Sampada 21-4, 21-5; B. R. Menakshi and Aparna Balan bt Vineeta and Richa 21-2, 21-1). — Special Correspondent
