Corporation seeks more time for projects

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The City Corporation Council, which met here on Monday, adopted a resolution seeking two more months to implement the public works projects taken up under the People’s Plan Campaign for the year 2007- ’08.

Moving the resolution, UDF leader Johnson Joseph called for extension of the timeframe to make up for the time lost in getting the projects approved. The council adopted the resolution unanimously.

The meeting also approved the detailed project report and engineering design for the development of five road corridors in the city. The project costing Rs.125.91 crore is to be submitted to the Union Government for financial assistance under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).

The roads include the Kesavadasapuram- Chavadimukku, Ulloor- Akkulam NH bypass, Karyavattam- Arasumoodu NH bypass, Manacaud NH bypass and Pallimukku- Medical College road.
