BHUBANESWAR: Students of the Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya (USM), Orissa’s premiere college of performing arts, have demanded dismissal of two of their teachers -- Bhawani Charan Biswal and Sukesh Panda -- for their alleged sexual harassment of girl students. Not satisfied with the suspension of the duo, a large number of students, including girls proceeded to the residence of Culture Minister Surya Narayan Patro here on Tuesday to press for their demand. During their discussion with the Minister the students feared that the continuation of Mr. Biswal and Mr. Panda as the faculty members would pose permanent problem for the students. Since their ‘immoral acts’ had caused damage to the image of the prestigious institution, mere suspension and inquiry would not suffice, they argued and demanded that exemplary punishment must be initiated against them. Mr. Patro assured the students that the law would take its own course while dealing with the issue. A committee was constituted and based on its report appropriate action would be initiated, he said.
