NAMAKKAL: The labourers in the unorganised sector can register their names in the respective welfare boards established by the State government for them on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of every week in the labour offices in the district, Collector G. Sundaramurthi has said.
Participating at a programme organised here recently, the Collector said that the registration would be carried out free of cost.
The existing members of these welfare boards could also renew their registration free of cost. The construction workers could register their names during all the working days in the district, he added.
The State government was extending accident relief, medical assistance, and assistance for marriage and education of the children of the members of the welfare boards for unorganised sector workers.
Pension
The government was also providing Rs. 400 as pension to the registered members aged above 60 years.
Later, Mr. Sundaramurthi distributed welfare assistance to the tune of Rs. 6.68 lakh to 205 beneficiaries during the programme.
A sum of Rs. 1.42 lakh for the education of the children of 100 labourers and Rs. 27,000 as maternity assistance to five persons registered with the construction workers welfare board.
