Government staff to picket Secretariat on April 10

Special Correspondent

PUDUCHERRY: The Confederation of Puducherry State Government Employees’ Associations on Monday announced its decision to picket the Chief Secretariat on April 10, urging the government to hold negotiations with its representatives on the issues raised by them.

The agitation was also aimed at highlighting demands such as filling vacancies, ensuring promotions, implementing recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission, honouring certain directions of the court and convening of the meeting of the high-level committees to hear the grievances of the employees, a release issued by the confederation said.

The employees owing allegiance to the confederation would take out three processions that would converge at the picketing programme before the Chief Secretariat, the release added.
