In protest mode: Tribal women taking out a rally in Charla on Tuesday. CHARLA ( Khammam dist ): Women from the Scheduled Tribes and the traditional forest dweller communities took out a massive rally in Charla and laid siege to the tahasildar office demanding the implementation of the Forest rights Act 2006. Led by the CPI leaders, they chanted slogans decrying the delay in the implementation of the act. The protesters presented a memorandum to the revenue officials demanding issue of pattas for the forest land in the occupation and enjoyment of the tribal and non-tribal communities for generations. Many of the genuine tribal families were sans valid documents supporting their claim on the forest land. A large number of women from different villages of the mandal took part in the rally. CPI leaders Kalluri Venkateswar Rao, Madireddy Suryanarayana and Madakam Tulasi were among those who took part.
