LEARNING EXPERIENCE: Deputy Superintendent of Police V.K. Akbar inaugurating a workshop organised by Childline for police officers in Malappuram on Tuesday. MALAPPURAM: Childline, a body functioning under the Union Ministry for Women and Child Development and the State Social Welfare Department for the welfare of children, conducted a day-long workshop for police officers of Malappuram district here on Tuesday. V.K. Akbar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Administration), inaugurated the workshop held in collaboration with the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development and the Childline India Foundation. Major K. Ibraine, nodal director of Childline, presided over the function. V.K. Abdul Kareem, deputy director of Childline Collab Centre; Sheeba Mumthaz, additional district probation officer; P.P. Yousuf Ali, Childline nodal centre coordinator; and Subairul Avan P.K., city coordinator of Childline; spoke. Nazeer Chaliyam, Juvenile Justice Board member, led a class on ‘Juvenile Justice Act.’ T. Abbas, lawyer, led a class on ‘Rights of children and their protection’. Nearly 50 sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors attended the workshop.
