GADAG: Members of the Karnataka Souharda Vedike staged a protest here on Tuesday against the alleged provocative speech made by president of the Rashtriya Hindu Sena Pramod Mutalik during the “Trishul Diksha” programme held in Gadag in violation of ban orders. The vedike activists, led by convenor Basavaraj Sulebhavi, urged the district administration to initiate action against those trying to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in the region by inciting religious feelings. He urged the district administration to ban the Sri Rama Sena, which, he said, was being used by a few political leaders. He also condemned Mr. Mutalik for making derogatory statements against the Tontadarya Math. The protestors burnt the effigy of Mr. Mutalik and demanded action against him for violating the ban orders and making the alleged provocative speech. The district administration has registered cases against 21 persons, including Mr. Mutalik and Ravi Shidling.
