Overcharging medical shops to be penalised

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Stringent action will be taken against those medical shops which collect additional tax over and above the maximum retail price of medicines, Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac has said.

Replying to questions in the Assembly on Tuesday, Dr. Isaac said the maximum retail price for medicines included all taxes, and traders who collected excess price would be penalised.

Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that NORKA cells would be set up in the office of the district superintendents of police.
