CHAMARAJANAGAR: Former Governor of Maharashtra S.M. Krishna has blamed the State Government for not adopting suitable measures to settle the row over the controversial island at Hogenakkal for the last 40 years. He was talking to presspersons after a darshan of Lord Mahadeshwar at the M.M. Hills temple on Tuesday. He said only the Union Government could solve the row over Hogenakkal. He called upon the Union Government to take responsibility in settling the issue between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. To a question about the delay in implementing the drinking water supply project from River Cauvery to M.M. Hills, he said, the fund allocated for it had been released, and all it required was a contractor to come forward to complete the project. ConfidentMr. Krishna said that the Congress will come to power in Karnataka after the Assembly elections. Mr. Krishna visited the temple along with his daughter, Malvika, in the morning. Deputy Commissioner K. Vishwanath Reddy, Assistant Commissioner, Kollegal division, Sathyabhama, Executive Officer of M.M. Hills temple, Vijaya, and Congress leaders were present.
