School ransacked by drunkards

MAKING HELL: A classroom of Kamaraj Middle School in Kumbakonam which was ransacked on Tuesday.
KUMBAKONAM: Anti-social elements ransacked Kamarajar Middle school at Melacauvery in Kumbakonam on Monday night.
On Tuesday morning, when the headmistress and teachers reached the school, which was closed on Monday evening, they found the gate lock broken.
Liquor bottles
In the classrooms, benches, tables, desks, fans and blackboards were damaged and liquor bottles were strewn around.
Headmistress Panjalai complained to Kumbakonam east police.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Srinivasan visited the school.
R. Ramanathan, former MLA of Kumbakonam who visited the school on Tuesday, condemned the incident and said that the activities of anti-social elements were on the rise here.
It is said that they chose the school for drinking and ransacking.
He appealed to the police to arrest the culprits as early as possible.
