ARIYALUR: The structure of Youth Congress in Tamil Nadu will be revived and strengthened till the level of panchayats to oversee the progress of the Central Government’s schemes for farmers, youth, women and working class, Chandan Kumar Yadav, general secretary, All India Youth Congress, said on Tuesday.

Addressing mediapersons, Mr. Yadav said the objective was to ensure that the schemes evolved by the Congress-led UPA Government as promised in the Budget reached the common man.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who has galvanised the Youth Congress by taking charge of its affairs, will visit Tamil Nadu in two months, Mr. Yadav said.

The mandate of the Youth Congress functionaries was to tour all districts and find out the problems at the grass roots.

The Youth Congress State unit has undertaken an assessment of the schemes such as National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and Bharat Nirman at the block level, he said, adding that the Youth Congress members were supportive of pro-poor policies of the State Government.

Mr. Yadav said there were challenges as well as opportunities warranting hard work.
