Humongous turnout: TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu during a road show on Tuesday. HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president, N. Chandra Babu Naidu sounded the bugle for the by-elections touring the Khairtabad constituency on Tuesday evening. The constituency will go to polls due to the demise of P. Janardhan Reddy if by-elections are announced. Mr. Naidu received tremendous response throughout the visit that started from Venkatagiri in the afternoon and ended at 11 P.M. at Yousufguda. The focus of his entire tour was how the city had become unaffordable for the poor and the middle class and the growing “rowdyism” of Congress activists that has created a feeling of insecurity among everyone. ‘Unsafe city’“No one is safe in the city neither are the properties of the common man. Kids are being kidnapped and women cannot travel safely in the city,” he said. He asked the people if they wanted such a Government and the response was a huge “No” at all the places. Mr. Naidu was smart to change his speech according to the mood and the audience. In slum areas like Venkatagiri, Rahmath Nagar and Karmika Nagar, he concentrated on rising prices of the land and essential commodities. “The cost of cooking oil is Rs. 90 per Kg. How many of these women can afford it,” he asked to the loud applause from women. Promises madeHe promised them houses which are a dream of common man. In places where the gathering was dominated by youngsters and educated, he explained to them how Government lands were being sold to those near and dear to the Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. “The situation is so grave that there is no Government land left for future use.” CM flayedThe Chief Minister was particularly on the target of Mr. Naidu whom he accused of turning a blind eye to law and order situation in the State for his personal benefit. “If there is any terrorist activity in the world it is now linked to Hyderabad. Goondaism has reached new heights in the last four years,” he said. Interestingly the response was loud and huge whenever Mr. Naidu talked about rowdyism and compared to his rule during which he said rowdies feared to enter the city. Throughout the tour, Mr. Naidu did not mention the name of late P. Janardhan Reddy but attacked the Government and the Chief Minister. Greater Hyderabad TDP president K. Vijayarama Rao and TNSF president Nannuri Narsi Reddy were among present.
