Fresh deadline for illegal uni-poles, hoardings

Penalties ranging from Rs. 5,000 to 25,000 to be levied

HYDERABAD: The GHMC has set a deadline of March 31 for advertising agencies to adhere to the stipulated regulations for hoardings/uni-poles or get prepared to get them defaced.

As per the policy announced few days ago, agencies involved in putting up hoardings and uni-poles were asked to stick to a particular size and height from the ground.

It was also decided to levy penalties for violations ranging between Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 25,000.

Additional Commissioner (Estates & Advertisements) G. Vani Mohan said that survey of hoardings and uni-poles was complete and necessary directions were issued to the agencies concerned. Although she did not give the precise number of illegal hoardings/uni-poles, she revealed that about 50 of them need to be further “secured properly”.

Hoardings location

“Most hoardings and uni-poles are located in the core area of twin cities while the number is negligible in the suburbs. Of course, they are just about coming up there also and we are keeping a close watch. Those not following rules will face action,” she asserted.

Ms. Mohan claimed that many hoardings/uni-poles were rectified in the last few months and affirmed that unauthorised ones without the identification number issued by GHMC will either be removed or defaced and fresh auctions will be called for the sites.

The municipal body has stipulated uni-poles to be of 50ft from the ground with display size of 30ft x 30ft. For hoardings – on ground, height from the ground should be 40ft and display size - 30ft x 20ft while those on roof tops should be 25 ft high and display size - 30ft x 15ft.

All hoardings should be painted in cement gray.
