Clash over land row
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD: A group of persons, led by Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader Sravan Kumar, allegedly beat up a realtor, Chinna Reddy, accusing the latter of threatening them over a land dispute at Miyapur on Tuesday. Cases and counter cases were registered against both the parties.
The Miyapur police said Reddy, hailing from Proddutur in Kadapa, and Kumar had a long pending dispute over a piece of land under survey no. 77 of Hafeezpet in Serilingampally. The HAL Employees Cooperative Society also had rights over the land. Several persons went to court claiming rights over the land and cases were pending.
Kumar started building a compound wall around some part of the land maintaining that he secured rights over it. According to him, Reddy came to the spot, attacked the watchmen and threatened the workers of dire consequences if they went ahead with construction of the wall. “At that time, Kumar’s followers assembled there and beat up Reddy,” the police said. Police took into custody Kumar and eight others in connection with the incident.
