Puducherry
PUDUCHERRY: All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Jayalalithaa on Monday said that party activists would stage a demonstration here on March 20, protesting against the Congress government which had become “inert” owing to infighting in the Cabinet. In a party release here, she said the demonstration would be staged to demand the imposition of President’s rule in the Union Territory. The protest would be led by organising secretary of the party P.H. Pandian in the presence of Puducherry unit secretary A. Anbalagan. After the demonstration, a party delegation will submit a memorandum to the Lieutenant-Governor, urging him to recommend the dismissal of the Union Territory government, Ms. Jayalalithaa said. Ever since the Congress government with the support of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam assumed office in the Union Territory, the “administration had been disrupted, thanks to the power struggle among Ministers” and its style of functioning had become a “mockery”.
