KOCHI: The city regional committee of the Ernakulam District Residents’ Associations Apex Council (EDRAAC) has requested the State government to form a Kochi Development Scheme on the lines of the capital city development project and allot Rs.100 crore for the development of the city. The demand was made at a meeting of the committee which was inaugurated by Deputy Mayor C.K. Manisankar. ‘No support’The meeting observed that the State government was yet to give any financial support for the development of the city. A resolution adopted at the meeting also sought a meeting of elected representatives, heads of local self-government institutions and public sector units to discuss the development scheme. It also urged the Kochi Corporation to take immediate steps to implement or complete various projects aimed at the comprehensive development of the area. The projects listed included completion of approach roads to North and South railway stations, construction of new canals, pay-and-use toilets, awareness drive on waste disposal, steps against illegal residential apartments and drinking water project using water from Muvattupuzha River. City regional committee president Jose Mohan presided over the function.
