BJP’s move for fresh Bill against conversion criticised

New Delhi: The Congress on Wednesday criticised the move by the BJP government in Rajasthan to introduce afresh a Bill against religious conversion, saying it went against the law as laid down by the Supreme Court.

“It is extremely reprehensible that the BJP Government of Rajasthan has introduced afresh a Freedom of Religion Bill in the Assembly especially when an earlier Bill on the same subject introduced by it in 2006 is still pending consideration of the President of India,” AICC spokesman Manish Tewari told reporters here. — PTI
