Lawyers boycott courts

PUDUKOTTAI: Lawyers abstained from courts here on Wednesday, protesting alleged ill-treatment meted out to a lawyer by a district official on Tuesday.

Demanding the transfer of the official, they also staged a demonstration in front of the office of the Revenue Divisional Officer here. Secretary of Pudukottai Bar Association G. Ramalingam led the stir.

The Association, at its urgent meeting, adopted a resolution that the lawyers would not attend the sessions at the official’s Revenue Court at the Collectorate till the transfer was effected.
