PUDUCHERRY: An innovative strategy and a social cause will bring together a group of 25 physically challenged persons for a 50-hour record attempt on March 21. They will paint with the brush in the mouth to promote awareness of polio and environment conservation. The group, all members of the Puducherry Sadhanaiyalargal Sangam, underwent a month’s training to paint in this fashion. Their trainer, R. Rajendran, has already achieved records for painting continuously for 100 hours with the brush in his mouth in 2003. He entered the Limca Book of Records in 2007 after painting for 127 hours. “Last year, I painted a 600 sq.ft sketch in 12 days with the brush in my mouth in an attempt to enter the Guinness Book of World Records,” Rajendran said. On Friday, the group will sketch a 10x30 feet abstract painting using multi-colours, near the Gandhi statue on the beach. They will paint on shift-basis and the feat would be completed on March 23. “Chief Minister N. Rangasamy will give away awards to the 25 persons after the feat,” Rajendran said.
