Aid for projects in agriculture and allied sectors New building for maternity ward at district hospital KASARAGOD: The district will receive Rs.10 crore from the Union government under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana programme. District panchayat president M.V. Balakrishnan said here on Wednesday that the aid would be for implementing development projects in agriculture and allied sectors. The allied sectors include irrigation and dairy development. A meeting of officials and people’s representatives would be held at the Collectorate conference hall at 11 a.m. on April 4 to discuss details of the project. He said a sum of Rs.80 lakh would be spent in the current year to start laboratories in the four higher secondary schools at Ravanishwaram, Kundumkuzhi South, Thrikkarippur and Pilikkode. A new building for the maternity ward would be built at the district hospital at a cost of Rs.60 lakh. New quarters would be built for the resident medical officer and the superintendent of the hospital. The district panchayat will also implement projects to supply drinking water to two Scheduled Caste colonies in Chenkala and Kumbla panchayats. A sum of Rs.32 lakh has been earmarked for the project, he said.
