Folk artistes get house site pattas

benevolence: Collector G. Sundaramurthi handing over a free house site patta to a folk artiste in Namakkal on Tuesday.
NAMAKKAL: Collector G. Sundaramurthi distributed free house site pattas worth Rs. 8.50 lakh to 38 folk artistes here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the initiative was taken up following a Government order.
The objective was to improve the quality of life of the folk artistes and promote folk arts.
The free sites were provided at Marappanaickanpatti panchayat.
Mr. Sundaramurthi said that steps would be taken up to create all necessary basic amenities, including drinking water provisions and roads in the panchayat.
Welfare board
The administration would provide free house sites to all the eligible folk artistes in the district in a phased manner.
A camp would be conducted to enrol the folk artistes as members of the welfare board established for them shortly.
District Revenue Officer G. Govindaraj and senior officials were present during the function which was attended by other artistes.
