NSS general secretary P.K. Narayana Panicker KOTTAYAM: The Nair Service Society (NSS) will go to court against the State government’s move to entrust the Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) with appointments to the Travancore and Cochin Devaswom Boards. In a press note issued at Perunna, NSS general secretary P.K. Narayana Panicker took serious exception to the decision, terming it unilateral and unconstitutional. He reiterated the society’s call for setting up a special recruitment Board for the Devaswom Boards. Mr. Panicker alleged that the government’s decision was with a political intention to create divisive tendencies in the Hindu community. The move was to create a vote bank of reserved communities, but this would end up in the “annihilation” of the communities without reservation. From time immemorial, the latter had played a crucial role in the upkeep of temples and they were carrying out their duties for a pittance, believing it to be their inherited responsibility.
