Assembly adjourned sine die

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Assembly on Wednesday adjourned sine die after 14 days of sitting.

Most days of the budget session, that began with address of the Governor, saw walkouts by the Opposition over various issues.

The first day of the general discussion on the budget was abandoned following protests by the Opposition over political violence in Kannur district. Opposition members staged a sit-in on Monday demanding action to help farmers who lost paddy crops in heavy rain.

The House passed a few Bills, including the Kerala Public Service Commission (Additional Functions as Respects the Administrative Services under the Devaswom Boards) Bill and the Kerala Fishermen’s Debt Relief Commission Bill.

Before the House adjourned, Speaker K. Radhakrishnan said it would be the last session in the Golden Jubilee Year of the House. The House had heard 23 calling attentions and about 215 submissions during the session.
