KOLLAM: Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has alleged that the agitation at Chengara in Pathanamthitta district is being funded by U.S.-based imperialist forces. He was addressing a gathering at Kundara after laying the foundation stone for the Kundara area committee office of the party. Mr. Vijayan said there were authentic reports on the role of U.S. espionage agencies also playing a role at Chengara. He said the agitation was an attempt to grab land. Most of those on agitation there were not landless as it was made out to be. The backing given to the Chengara agitation was part of a U.S game plan to defame Left governments in India. This was to avenge the strong opposition registered by the Left parties against the Indo-U.S. nuclear deal. Because of the Left opposition, the deal failed to get implemented and this had stumped the U.S. designs of achieving its hidden agenda through India. One of the designs was to counter China’s economic growth. The canard that human rights violations were taking place in Kerala and West Bengal was part of this game plan. The basic intention of the U.S. through such machinations was to annihilate the CPI(M). America was fully aware that the CPI(M) was the biggest hurdle to that country’s nefarious designs in India.
