Expo on Lord Jagannath begins

BHUBANESWAR: Wish to explore the history and mystery behind the Jagannath cult? The week-long special session and exhibition on Jagannath - Sri Jagannath Chetana Mahadhibesan - that kicked off in the Exhibition ground in the city on Tuesday could be your ideal destination. And if you did not have a chance to enter into the temple, you can have a view of all such rites and rituals here. One can further come across the photographic exhibition of the Jagannath temples established in several places across the globe. “This is an important congregation where deliberations on different religious aspects of the Jagannath culture would be initiated. The religious rites and rituals that are performed in the temple are being performed here in public for the first time,” chief priest Surya Narayan Rathasharma said. Some 500 delegates comprising representatives of various religious sects, scholars and researchers are participating. It would continue till March 24. Such congregations were hosted earlier by the Jagannath Chetana Samsad of Puri in Cuttack, Benaras and Mathura in the 1980’s.
