Fish workers plan protest march

Staff Reporter

KOLLAM: Fish workers will take out a march to the collectorate on April 3 to register their protest against the anti-community policies of the Central and State governments.

The march, under the banner of the Kerala Swatantra Matsya Thozhilali Federation, is also to press for the various demands of the community.

The demands

The demands include debt relief for members of the Fish Workers Welfare Fund Board, stopping eviction of fishing community members, development of coastal roads, title deeds for members of the community residing in coastal areas and kerosene quota for new applicants.

As part of the campaign for the collectorate march, the federation will conduct meetings along the coastal belt from Pallithottam to Tangasseri on March 29.
