Two persons sentenced to life imprisonment

Rourkela: A local court at Sundergarh sentenced two persons to undergo life imprisonment in separate murder cases. Additional District Judge Madhumita Das found Karna Pradhan of Jhurimali village guilty yesterday for killing a woman, Pramila Garud, of the same village on July 15, 2006.

The judge, who examined 11 witnesses during the trial, also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Karna, who has to undergo one more year of rigorous imprisonment in case he fails to pay fine.

In another murder case, the judge found Bhujula Bhunya of Mendra village guilty for killing his elder brother, Bhanu Bhunya on June 12, 2006. The court has imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Bhujula who would face one more year jail term in case of failure to pay the fine. – PTI
